After my friend managed to create a blog on blogger with domain .blogspot.com or .blogspot.co.id the next step you must change the blog settings. Not all change, only certain settings are changed so that the performance of your blog can run better.
Changing settings in blogger is not mandatory, only limited to the choice only. Changes included are Basic settings and blog templates. In this post, I will try to explain the basic setting changes on the blog.
Changed Blogger Basic Settings
Only 5 parts of the settings I will change, for other settings leave the defaults as they do not need to be changed.
1. Make sure buddy is on the dashboard blogger
2. Select the Settings menu
Basic settings
For after the base there are 2 that are changed the title and description.
- Title: Customize the blog content that you think is nice and unique. Usually for this title only one or two words only. More concise is better and not too long to be easy to remember by visitors.
- Description: Fill with words or phrases that describe your blog as a whole. The function of this description to explain to the visitor in brief. Example: "Educational blog about junior and senior high school".
Post settings, comments, and sharing
There are 6 settings changed on this selection:
- Who can comment on Everyone (so everyone can comment on your blog posts)
- Comment moderation: Always (so we can select posts that match the articles on the blog)
- Show word verification: "No"
- Message form comments: Fill in the appropriate message "Spam comments"
- Automatically post newly published posts: "Yes" (for each finished article posted automatically share on google plus)
- Remind to share after posting: "No"
Language settings and formatting
Change the time zone to (GMT-08:00) Pacific TimeSearch preferences settings
In the Meta Tag option enable description by click edit. Enable search description? select "Yes" then save the changes.
Other, More settings
In the site feed option select "Short" and then click save settings in the top right corner.
The above settings are blog settings that I often use. You are free to change as needed.
Blog Post Settings
These blog post settings set about main page options and page entry options. Here's how:
- Still on the blogger dashboard
- Open the layout
- Select the Blog Post gadget
- Click edit (icon) on the top right corner of the Blog post gadget
- Will appear a new page "Configuring Blog Posts" Buddy can edit some settings such as: remove comments, share, location, labels and so on.
There are some settings to do but require further steps like: Register your blog to google webmasters, install the Analytics Web Property ID, enable robots.txt and site Feed settings.
Linking blogs to google webmaster aim to optimize blog performance. This webmaster's default can check the health of the blog in detail while installing the Analytics Web Property ID aims to know detailed reports about visitors.
